Three Vingroup properties sit side by side in Ganh Dau, the northwest tip of Phu Quoc: VinWonders (a full theme park), Vinpearl Safari (open-format zoo and safari bus), and Grand World (a free-entry entertainment district best visited at night). You can cover all three in a long day, or pick the one that fits your group best.
The complex is about 30 km north of Duong Dong. There is no public bus that reliably covers the route — a scooter or hired car is the practical way to get there.
The short version
- VinWonders: full theme park with rides, water rides, and shows; 950,000 ₫ adult (~US$38), 710,000 ₫ child 100–140 cm, free under 100 cm; open 9:00am–7:30pm
- Vinpearl Safari: open-format zoo plus safari bus; buy the combo with VinWonders to save ~250,000 ₫ per adult — the combo is the better deal if you plan both
- Grand World: free entry; European-style canal district, gondola rides, restaurants, and nightly shows — go after 5:30pm, not during the day
- All three are in Ganh Dau, ~30 km north of Duong Dong town; scooter or hired car required
- The VinWonders + Safari combo is the strongest value for families with children
- For adults without kids, weigh the ticket price against what else you can do with US$80–100
VinWonders Phu Quoc
VinWonders is a full-scale theme park covering around 60 hectares on the northwest coast. It is divided into themed zones: a Mediterranean-style central boulevard, ride sections (roller coasters, drop rides, and a family coaster), a water park area with slides and pools, an indoor gaming and arcade zone, and a performance stage running shows throughout the day.
Tickets:
- Adult (140 cm and over): 950,000 ₫ (~US$38)
- Child 100–140 cm / senior 60+: 710,000 ₫ (~US$28)
- Under 100 cm: free
Book online through the official VinWonders site rather than at the box office — same price, no queue. The park opens at 9:00am and closes at 7:30pm.
The rides: The ride offering is solid for a Vietnamese theme park but not on a par with major international parks. The water rides are the strongest asset, particularly useful on a hot afternoon. The indoor zones provide air-conditioned relief mid-day and are worth using during the hottest hours.
Shows: A schedule of live performances — dance, acrobatics, themed entertainment — runs throughout the day. Pick up a schedule at the entrance gate; the timings are worth planning around because the performances vary in quality and the 6:00–7:00pm evening show is often the best.
How long to spend: Budget 5–6 hours to cover the main attractions without feeling rushed. Arrive at opening (9:00am) for the popular rides before queues build, and save the water park section for the afternoon. The park gets substantially busier from 10:30am onwards.
Food inside: There are restaurants, fast-food counters, and grab-and-go stalls throughout the park. Prices are higher than you would pay outside (standard for a theme park), but the variety is reasonable. If you’re on a budget, a packed lunch is not prohibited — check the current bag policy at the gate.
Practical tips:
- Avoid Vietnamese public holidays — queues for rides can double or triple
- The water park zones require a separate entry ticket on some visit formats; confirm this when buying online
- Lockers are available at the entrance and near the water park; worth using if you have valuables
Vinpearl Safari
Vinpearl Safari is immediately adjacent to VinWonders and operates as a combined open-format zoo and guided safari experience. The property is split into two sections: a walking zoo with primates, birds, reptiles, and smaller animals in large enclosures; and the safari bus circuit, where open vehicles move through areas housing lions, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, hippos, and other large animals in expansive paddocks.
Ticket options: The most practical approach is the combo with VinWonders, which saves around 250,000 ₫ per adult compared to buying separately. The standalone Safari ticket price fluctuates across booking platforms; check the official VinWonders website on your day of travel for the current figure rather than relying on any third-party listing.
The safari bus: Runs on a set loop through the large-animal enclosures. Queues for the first bus of the morning are shortest — worth timing your Safari visit for early in the day before the mid-morning tour groups arrive. Each circuit takes about 30–40 minutes.
The walking zoo: Well-maintained and larger than you might expect. The primate section is a highlight — several species including gibbons and orang-utans in well-designed enclosures. There are also feeding experiences at designated times; ask at the Safari entrance desk for the day’s schedule.
With children: For families with children under about 10, the Safari is arguably the stronger draw of the two properties. The combination of large animals up close on the bus and hands-on elements in the walking zoo is difficult to match with theme park rides for younger visitors. Allow at least 2.5–3 hours.
What to skip: The marine show tends to draw large crowds relative to what it delivers. The bird show is shorter and more consistently good.
Grand World
Grand World is the third property in the Ganh Dau complex. It is architecturally unlike the other two: a recreation of a European canal district with coloured building facades, a gondola canal, indoor galleries, and a pedestrianised restaurant and retail strip. Entry is free. Revenue comes from individual activities — gondola rides, entry to the Teddy Bear Museum, specific shows — and from the restaurants and shops.
When to go: Do not bother during the daytime. The lighting is off, the shows don’t run, and the whole district looks like an empty film set in daylight. Come after 5:30–6:00pm when the lights come on, the entertainment schedule starts, and the restaurant strip fills. Plan dinner here as your close to a day at VinWonders and the Safari.
What to do: Walk the canal circuit (about 30 minutes at an easy pace), decide if a gondola ride appeals, check the Teddy Bear Museum if you have children who’d enjoy it, and pick a restaurant for dinner. The dining range is broad — Vietnamese street food on the pedestrian strip, sit-down seafood restaurants, and Western café options. Prices are slightly above island average but not unreasonable.
Getting between properties: Grand World has its own entrance adjacent to VinWonders. The three properties are connected by walking paths; there is no need to get back in a car or scooter to move between them.
How a full day works
Here is a realistic schedule for a family doing all three:
- 9:00am: Arrive at VinWonders, ride queue before crowds build
- 10:30am: Move to Vinpearl Safari for the first safari bus (arrives early, shorter queue)
- 1:00pm: Lunch at Safari food court or back at VinWonders
- 2:00pm: Return to VinWonders — water rides, indoor zones, or children’s area
- 5:30pm: Head into Grand World as lights come on
- 6:30–8:30pm: Dinner at Grand World, evening show, optional gondola
If you have very young children, drop the afternoon VinWonders block and spend it at the Safari walking zoo instead. The pace is easier and there is more shade.
Is it worth it?
For families with children: Yes. The combination of rides, large animals, and Grand World’s evening entertainment covers a full day and works across a wide age range. Buy the VinWonders + Safari combo online before you arrive.
For adults without children: Conditional. The ticket price is significant — close to US$80 for two at VinWonders alone, before Safari. If theme parks and zoos are things you enjoy, it is well-executed. If they are not a priority, the budget goes further on a boat trip to the An Thoi islands and a good dinner.
During the rainy season: A strong option. When afternoon thunderstorms make beach plans unreliable (typically July–September), the largely indoor and covered sections of VinWonders provide a sensible alternative. Grand World in the evening is especially good on a clear post-rain night.
Getting there
Ganh Dau is about 30 km north of Duong Dong on the northwest tip of the island.
- Scooter: 45–50 minutes from town; free parking at all three venues. The road is straightforward.
- Hired car or minivan: the most comfortable option with young children or luggage. Ask your hotel to arrange a half-day car hire, or book through Grab.
- Grab: works for the journey up from Duong Dong, but can be slow to respond at the Ganh Dau end for the return trip. Arrange a pick-up time in advance or ask your driver to wait.
After the complex, Bai Dai beach is a short drive away on the northwest coast — a good place to stop on the way back if you want to finish the day at the water.
For where to stay on the island, /hotels/ lists accommodation across all areas. If you are planning other activities and tours around your VinWonders day, the activities index covers excursions across the island.
